Just the Two of Us: Will Smith or Bill Withers?

Anyone that knows me that I would choose Will Smith. Actually, I’m not even sure who Bill Withers is. But, when it come to the song “Just the Two of Us”, the lyrics that fit this blog are from both Bill Withers and Will Smith.

I see the crystal raindrops fall
And see the beauty of it all
Is when the sun comes shining through
To make those rainbows in my mind
When I think of you some time
And I want to spend some time with you

Just the two of us
We can make it if we try
Just the two of us
Just the two of us
Building castles in the sky
Just the two of us
You and I

We look for love, no time for tears
Wasted waters’s all that is
And it don’t make no flowers grow
Good things might come to those who wait
Not to those who wait to late
We got to go for all we know

The song is not talking about a romantic relationship. The song, to me, is about the relationship with your child. Just ask Will….

From the first time the doctor placed you in my arms,
I knew Id meet death before Id let you meet harm.
Although questions arose in my mind would I be (wo)man enough?
Against wrong choose right and be standin’ up?
From the hospital that first night,
Took a hour just to get the carseat in right.
People drivin all fast got me kinda upset
Got you home safe placed you in your basinette.

That night I dont think one wink I slept,
As I slipped out my bed to your crib I crept.
Touched your head gently felt my heart melt,
‘Cause I know I loved you more than life itself.
Then to my knees and I begged the lord please
Let me be a good mommy all she needs
Love, knowledge, discipline, too.
I pledge my life to you.

At 17 months, this little girl runs the household. And probably better than I could. She keeps me on my toes and guessing. Each day, I’m amazed at what she knows and what she is trying to learn. She keeps me happy and sane. Most of the time.

It’s been a long winter. In more ways than one. Endless amounts of snow and endless amounts of turmoil. But spring is coming, right?!

I’m pretty good at masking my emotions. Often, I keep stuff locked inside. I do have some good friends that I trust, and sometimes even share things with. But, honestly, I am pretty stubborn and I like to try to work things out on my own. Maybe having a blog will help with that. In the chance that anyone reads this, I’m open to comments and suggestions. Some posts maybe very vague. Feel free to ask for clarification, and I may give it.

  2. From one vague, stubborn person to another, I’ll let you know when you need to clarify. :)

  3. You know, even though it’s just the two of you in WI, you have lots of extended family elsewhere. For example, I am the Carlton to your Will because, let’s face it, I’m a nerd. I can make up a loser dance, too, if you’d like.
